A Parent Education Program

During, After School or Weekends -On Campus

      

Program Description:

A seven (7) - session series of interactive parent educational workshops and presentations. The program focuses on teaching parents "best practices" and techniques to help their children be successful in school. Program goals are to increase parental involvement in their children's education, in schools and in the community. Parents will learn parenting skills, how to motivate their children to learn at home, promote reading, writing, good study habits, organization, decision making skills, and how the school system works.


Participants Will Learn:

  • Learn to access school & community resources

  • Develop leadership skills through involvement in PTA, LPAC, etc.

  • Learn to teach reading and math skills using home activities

  • Learn school /District policies and procedures

  • Learn "Best Practices" to increase parenting skills

  • Increase parent involvement and school volunteerism

Program Details:

Dates:  September 1 - December 15 and February 1 - May 15

Times:  Open

Duration: 2 hours each session

School Fee: $285 per session ($1,995 for 7-weekly sessions)

Attendance Minimum:  5

Attendance Maximum:  30

Bilingual Presentation:  Yes

Technical Needs:  TV/VCR, overhead projector, markers, flip chart

Other Info:  Presenter will provide assistance with setting up the parent meetings, agenda, and developing parent flyers.
